One Brush Stroke For All Styles PDF

This single stroke sweeping pattern will help you play almost anything!

I love playing with brushes! I’ve been studying brushes for a while now. I’ve gone through every brush book and DVD I could find. That will only get you so far, though, so I’ve also sought out some of the living brush masters and brush players that I’ve admired. I’ve met up with and picked up tips and ideas from Jeff Hamilton, Kenny Washington, John Riley, Steve Smith, JoJo Mayer, Russ Miller, Geoff Clapp, Jason Sutter, Mel Brown, and Florian Alexandru Zorn.

Over time, I’ve come up with one brush stroke that will work for most of the musical situations I find myself in. In this lesson, I’ll show you this one brush stroke that I’ve been able to use for just about all the styles I encounter. This stroke is played as alternating single sweeps. With these alternating notes, I can play any style, genre, beat, or groove that comes my way by adding accents and adjusting the phrasing and the feel.
